Q: Is August the worst month for seasonal allergies in China?

Since the beginning of August I've been suffering from pretty bad allergies: constantly running nose, itchy and irritated eyes, itchy ear drums even. I've noticed that a lot of people are sniffing and sneezing lately. Is August particularly bad for allergies or something? Anyone else notice how their allergies have gotten worse lately?

I have a slight grass allergy. I only experience it back home when there is lots of grass allergy in the air. I am not allergic to Chinese variations of grass.

It would depend a lot on where in the country you are. Northern regions would have more predicable pollen seasons where you at specific times per year would get large amounts of pollen in the air, where southern regions might have plants have several annual cycles.

Have a skin test done so you know what you are allergic to. Perhaps consult a doctor to ask if it would be beneficial for you to have antihistamines to reduce the symptoms.

My nose ran so bad last year that I would have stuffed tampons in it if I cold find them. I don't think I have any allergies, I think it's the air pollution and I didn't think it was bad in Guilin.

Most definitely my good man most definitely....this is indeed the type of season that causes the allergies to come out once again. I know I've caught some along the way. The most common one's being sneezing and sniffing...

I literally just stuffed some tissue into my nose then saw this post

I think its because of the need to run the A/C which only brings in the dust and allergens.

I'm also suffering from allergies right now as are many people I know. My allergies get really bad when I'm around smoke or A/Cs and only flair up in the summer. I'm praying it'll go away in September.

According to my pharmacist friends, there are a few months where it's bad. I made friends with several pharmacists in China, and we'd talk about random stuff. They said that allergies are horrible during the month of August, and people are constantly coming in and looking for stuff to fix it. I think there was trouble around March and May as well.

A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
