Q: Bad Spitting habits in China. is it part of their Culture?

I have traveled to so many cities in China and the trend is everywhere. They just spit any where.

Got a splash on my leg and face as well in a taxi.

Just wondering if its part of their culture

While prevalent, I would not say it is "cultural". Until not so long ago, we too used to spit in the West as well.

One of my friends went to Italy in the late 1980's and told me tehre were signs everywhere that said "non sputare" (no spitting).

My sister and her husband work in construction in the US and there is a lot of spitting (and hawking) there too.
