I'm not sure if it was an unfortunate transmission fluke or heavy-handed censorship. Yesterday evening (ie 22 Jan. around 19:30), as every evening, I watch the BBC TV news on (BBC Asia/International). When a news item was about to be introduced, *puf*, no signal anymore. It's cable TV, other channels worked just fine, both national and international like HBO. The signal came back a few minutes later. Did some of you had the same experience ? Or is it just me ?
ie. I suspect that one particular news item, shown on the headline of BBC website, was targeted, but I don't want to accuse without strict proofs.
On January 22nd, the Ukraine government mobilized tanks to be used against the anti-government protestors. It was shaping up to be *EXACTLY* like the Tianamen Square massacre (with tanks and everything).
That's why it got pulled from the news.
I'm in the USA right now, things are getting pretty crazy over there in Kiev.
The protestors spent all morning (January 23rd) building catapults, they're trying to break through the line of riot guards protecting the government building with the Ukraine president.
There were some meetings between the protestors and the president but the president refused to budge on the issue..
The issue is that the people want to be friendly with the European Union and distance themselves from Russia.. Putin pfrom Russia ut pressure on the Ukraine government to not get friendly with the E.U. so that's what the government decided to do.
That's when the tens of thousands of protestors showed up on the president's doorstep and it's been all molotovs, fireworks, and burning tires since..... and late at night on the 23rd, the catapults were up and firing away!
At least 5 people confirmed dead. One protestor confirmed tortured to death in the woods. One protestor stripped naked and photographed by government riot police with video evidence that hit the major news outlets.
It was an over eager censor with his finger on the red button. The orange button of course only gets used when there is really bad stuff going on. The orange button switches the signal to a looped transmission of that awesome volleyball game from the mid nineties when the Chinese women's team was trouncing the Japanese men's team in a friendship match.
Don't dare ask me what the green button does..... it involves blast doors and Presidential denials.
I know these things... Snowden told me.
Then again, it could have been a glitch.
Probably some guy plugged his in copy Iphone charger, it caused a spike, blew a local transformer causing an outage that was soon rectified when the emergency generator kicked in.
I vote for the copy charger
Jan. 24th.
The protestors haven't been able to make any progress at all and there has been a cease-fire as talks between the protestors and the president continue.
The protestors for the most part have changed their demands towards having the president resign or have a new election.
The protestors are convinced that the last election was faked.
The major news outlets are reporting about how some of the protestors have been spotted waving flags associated with Neo-Nazis. There has been some discussion on the news about what would happen if these Neo-Nazis got an opportunity to take over the Ukraine government. (omg, it's Hitler!)..
And whether or not the Ukraine government is better off the way it is now.
Some reports are saying that the Neo-Nazis in the protest group are <1% or less than 0.1% of the protestors and that's just bound to happen when everybody and their mothers are out protesting.
And everybody and their mothers *ARE* out protesting. Last night, literaly, groups of mothers went out for many hours begging the riot police to stand down and they were unsuccessful.
The protestors in Kiev haven't been able to make progress, but protestors in other parts of the country have. They were able to take over some rather unimportant government buildings with almost no resistance.
Tanks were spotted moving toward Kiev on trains days ago (with video evidence), but as of yet, no tanks have been deployed against the protestors and it's unknown where those tanks currently are now.
