What's the best and worst thing about your job?
9 years 12 weeks ago in Business & Jobs - China
The best part is being my own boss. The worst part is dealing with Chinese governmental bureaucracy and the Chinese (small business) banking system.
As has always been the case in the past 16 years - the best part has been the students, the worst part - the "management".

Best : I just need a computer and a net connection. It can be anywhere. It pays enough to allow me to live (almost) anywhere.
Worst : Very little interaction with humans. Mostly emails and Skype sessions. It feels like being alone in the most remote place ever.
Best: Total freedom and relaxation. I am trusted to do work when it needs to be done and go home when its done. No 9-5 crap.
Lots of holidays and slow periods to unwind.
A salary that pays well enough to raise a family and still have fun
Worst: Im the only foreigner other than my emails and Skype calls.
By company is in N/A so the time difference means i work all day and stay up all night with HQ and customers (busy periods)
Getting my salary is a giant bitch as transferring large amounts isnt easy so im always owed large amounts. 120K as of today. Theyll get around to it though, they always do. But it is hard to plan sometimes with no regular pay schedule
Robk:
I have to do the same thing with staying up late. Most of my clients are from the U.K. or North America.
It gets kind of annoying but a small price to pay. The banking system here that hates foreigners... is my biggest annoyance.
The pay is great. Some of the students are monsters.
Best : students ( those students who come to class on time and want to communicate )
Worst : students ( I'm feeling disrespected more this year )
Actually the worst can be the low support from the school so I'm on my way home to America after this coming term and not going to renew the contract.
The best :
Working whenever I want, with whoever I want and earning as much as I want.
The worst :
Time zone differences (all my clients are foreigners) and the crappy Chinese banking system that only allows USD to RMB transfer of like 50k USD per year, among other stupid restrictions.
Best : I do what I like, every day is different, no one really care what I do all the day.
Worst : They just should smoke less cigarettes around me.
Best: can work from home or wherever i want most of the time.
Worst: income is not stable.
