If you English fiction there are many place to go, but the most efficient in my opinion is to head to Wangfujing because there are two stores where you can find good English fiction in close proximity.

1) Wangfujing Bookstore: 218 Wangfujing Dajie (Before the McDonald's) Tel: 6513 2842, 6525 2592

2) Foreign Language Bookstore: 235 Wangfujing Dajie (further north of Wangfujing bookstore) Tel: 6512 6903

Hope you find what you are looking for.

I would actually check out the Bookworm. You can join up as a member and it works like a library. I find they have a great selection of books and sometimes you can find a real gem on the shelves. http://www.beijingbookworm.com/

Sequoia Café also does a regular book swapping event which is great for picking up books from other expats that may not be on sale elsewhere. They meet on the first Saturday of every month between 2 and 6pm.
