Q: Best remedy for an eye infection?

So I just woke up, and couldn't see since my eyes were fused shut with crusty green gunk. I've never had an eye infection in my entire life, so I really don't know what to take. Can anyone recommend something?

Thanks!

Lemon juice. My brother gave me this remedy years ago when I was drunk in a bar with him. I can't remember if it worked at all, all I remember is it hurt like hell. I may have hit him.

Use black tea, it's the best remedy ever. I use it since I was a little kid.

I thought about tea bags; we used those for our kittens and it worked awesomely. My question is, where the heck do I get those in China?

Or you can just ask a close personal friend to teabag you.  Sorry, couldn't resist. smiley

Hulk, you have conjunctivitis. Easy to pick up with dust, personal contact, whatever. Just pop into your local pharmacy and show them your eye. They have eye drops there specifically for that. 3 times a day and it's gone within 24 hours or 2 days. Your wife is Chinese so she can help with the translations but the person in the drug store shoudl know.

Mr_spoon:

If you're referring to that red liquid in the small plastic bottle, then yeah, this thing works amazingly well.

It hurts, but it cured my conjunctivitis in no time.

I second DancingDevils suggestion, and remember eye infections are contagious. Don't poke your wifes eyes after you have been poking your own eyes. Increased hand washing shold mitigate the risk.

Hugh.G.Rection:

Ref the eye washing - make sure you are washing in clean (or bottled water), as that may well be what caused the infection in the first place, (washing hands in dirty water then rubbing your eye).

Lol, hadn't thought of that. It wasn't just one pipe... it was feet (which stood in chicken shit... oh man), a metal pipe or two, fists, etc. Got my head, face, and everything. Didn't hurt, but I think I got an infection or... 20. Got green stuff coming out of almost every orifice. Going to the drug store now.

I had the same problem a few days ago,and i bought 氯霉素眼药水 (Chloramphenicol eye drops) in a drugstore,it's quite useful. The problem disappeared after i used the eye drops for only once.Actually i always use 氯霉素眼药水 whenever my eyes has problems. It cost only 5 RMB and is sold at every drugstore.

Hulk:

Gonna check it now. Thanks!

Got 2 for 8 RMB. Well, one looks like TCM, and the other looks a tad western. I'm going to try it, but it seems like the infection went away already. I don't want it to come back, so I'll use it.
