You should REALLY visit the Hemudu Site, one of the earliest Neolithic Age sites discovered in China. It's just a dozen miles from Ningbo, at Yuyao Town.

There's also the the Asoka Temple, Tiantong Temple too is worth a visit.

I'll save you some other stuff you can do, but a single day is definitely too short!

Xikou is very cool but its also a drive outta town.

Lived in Ningbo for 8 months, very clean and modern and foreigner friendly...
but also a bit boring maybe...I'd never live in Shanghai or Beijing (too much for me and I hate the friggin' tube ) so I stick to smaller places
