I spent 2 months last summer looking for a job here (SH) I didn't hear back from any of the places I apply for the longest time, though I eventually picked up a job that's been ok. Recently friends have been telling me about job offers left and right.
Are there "seasons" when its easier to find a new job here in China, or is this just a freak occurance? I'm mid contract now, and I'd rather not break, but if it's gonna be the same again next summer, maybe I should.

Summer is not a good time. If you want a job for maybe like 2 or 3 weeks then it's fine. They have a lot of summer camps and summer jobs here but they don't last long. Their come on is you can get paid X amount of dollars in a short time. After that you are left with no job.
Just try to get it at any time besides the summer. Try at the beginning of the year!
These next few months are the time to start looking for September starts. Summer is too late and you'll just pick up tail ends if anything decent at all.
The past Dec and Jan there was the best time for March starts.
Training centres are all year round so look for a job in one of those whenever you like.
It's the best to get a job during the time from March to May.
Chinese wise after the two golden week holidays are prime job hunting season. With staff not bothered to come back.
