Which city do you plan to stay in? I studied Chinese at Fudan university in Shanghai  and the language course was poorly organized so I can't recommend it.  I should have chosen a less popular university where students are treated better. My cousin studied at Shanghai University of TCM and both the language program and the attitude towards foreign students were much better.
