Q: Best way to deal with this situation involving Chinese hard-headedness?
I have a very good friend back home in the States. She's hell-bent on staying in America illegally because she feels "indebted" to another illegal alien who "saved" her life. Sorry, I mean "undocumented immigrant." They're both Chinese. Rather choose several options which allow her to stay in America legally, she utterly refuses and continues to insist that undocumented immigration is the best avenue when it clearly isn't. She's basically shacking up with another illegal Chinese alien who provides "protection" for her, and she feels like she's forced to stay with him even though she doesn't even like him. I tried talking to her and helping her explore all of her options, but to be honest I think she'd be good friends with Victoria1987 when it comes to listening skills.
To compound an already difficult problem, it appears that her family (this part of her family that I'll talk about lives in America) prevented her from fixing her visa to allow her to continue her studies in the U.S. legally. A university somehow looked past the fact that she wasn't in the country legally (not anymore at that point) and allowed her to study there. Apparently her Chinese uncle (again, in the U.S.) began to sexually harass her, and possibly rape her as well. She won't admit that he touched her or anything, but she said he kept sexually harassing her, and that if she saw him again she'd kill him for what he did to her. Usually she can confide in me, but somehow something is different this time around.
is there another Chinese woman, maybe Chinese American, who can talk to her. you don't say if you are male or female. if you are male, the chinese girl might not feel safe talking to you about such a sensitive subject.
Does The US government have any flyers or web sites in Chinese that can explain what people can do in these situations even though she is not surppose to be there? I know they do here. Don't give up on her , She needs help one way or another , What she is going through is a form of slavery and needs to be stopped. thanks for sharing this with us Best wishes and please let us know how things go
refugee status based on domestic violence or human trafficking is possible but you have to have police reports and documentation, she has to file some charges for a lawyer to show immigration for a chance of staying in the country
leave her be, she does not want to return to china.
or explain to her that she needs to get proof of her uncles abuse, but honestly that seems impossible. because this is so common in china that the girl does not resist or put up a fight so in the eyes of the law it is consensual incest.
so really there is no help for her.
encourage her to find a nice citizen to marry.
call bullshit.
uni continues w/out proper visa. lol
