Q: Bicycle that is high enough? Any brand suggestions?
I need to buy a bicycle that is actually high enough - I'm about 1.80m and most bikes just won't cut it. Preferably one where you sit up straight rather than lean over.
I've found that most are very short... any Chinese brand suggestions? What type of bike do you guys have?
Try Walmart and raise the seat post if you need it higher.

I've got a Giant. Model is Hunter 2.0. Cost me about 1300 kuai 4 years ago and it's a beauty. Name of Bert.
Got the seat at maximum height and I'm 175 so, for you, maybe not high enough.
Ask the people to order you an extended seat bar. A Giant shop should be able to do that no worries. Of course, you'll need a translator.

Oh yeah, reconsider not wanting to ride in a leaning forward position. Much more effective and comfortable to ride leaning forward. And you look less of a dickhead riding that way.
I second the Giant recommendation, I have one and love it.. They make some bigger bikes and can probably get you a bike with a bigger frame then the average no name brand.
As for leaning forward when you ride.. well I think that's pretty normal for most modern bikes. If you really hate it maybe one of the old style traditional frames would be better for you, I don't know what they're called but they're usually black, heavy, have one gear, look like something from 1960, have a really comfortable seat, are very sturdy and reliable and are awesome to ride in my opinion. (as long as you're not going mountain biking or something)
Giant XTC. 188cm. No problems. but to sit straight up yooll need many extensions on your stem - for the handlebars. Just plan on some leaning forward.
You could get an ATX model for less money. Same setup, different frame/components.
You can buy 30cm seat posts for most bikes on taobao.
You might try a UCC if yu very love Chinese bikes. Good lucky.

Or, like royce wrote, get a Giant Hunter 2.0. It's more of a sitting-up bike. The XTC and ATX models are MTBs. (shanzixingche, I think)
Or try a Harley Ultra Glide.

You're right about the Hunter being too upright. I'd forgotten about that. What I've done is rotate the handle bars as for forward as possible, thereby extending the reach by several inches.

I don't have one, but I think the Hunter is good for trips to the market and maybe to work. Upright, but not too much. Anyways, it's a matter of preference.
the old black communists bike is available one size tall tires, more than 27 inches in america, and can be bought in street markets for about 20 rmb, nobody wants them but they sit tall and and tires are still easy to find. they came in basic black and you had to wait with a ration card to buy one, i have 2 of them and painted them another color, still get strange looks when i ride it with a winter red star fur ear muff police hat on for accessorizing the moment.
I have racing bike/cycle, carbon frame with straight (aero) handlebars, weight in total some 7kg.
When I'm riding, my ass is higher than my (upper) head. I try to mimic 'liquid drop'. I'm 175 cm.
Get a banana seat and highbars. Long go that was my bike.

And if you can't afford that, just get a banana. You may get some odd looks riding it to work but when you look at the savings you'll make, it's really you that'll have the last laugh.
