Q: Black list of recruiters

I'm not sure if the similar question has been asked on this site, but I want to suggest to share our "recruiters" & "schools" experiences with each other. E.g. info provided by Hulk about teaching in rural Hunan is very valuable. If you have been cheated or treated unfairly, please let folks on this site know the recruiters' names, schools names, anything that will help those who're job-hunting now not to be the  next victim.  On the other hand, if you're happy with your school & if your school is recruiting more teachers, you could recommend it to those who need the job.

Well, if you don't want to work 3 months just for a visa and work for someone who claims that there are so many illegal schools and his school is one of the legal one's in China. Then stay away from, you ready, take out your pen and paper....'Guo BIn"

Simply don't use recruiters. Don't go anywhere without a Z visa and a contract in your hands. I think that will solve 99.99% of scams. The other 0.01% will be handled at the PSB with no problems.

It would be a waste of time to note recruiters and schools to avoid. Since 98% of them either screw people on a regular basis, or do to some people.

It would only be worth to note schools that are reputable.....maybe.

I could mention a school that was great to me, but schools in China are like a business, and they are ran by Chinese people who do business in Chinese ways. Therefore would I suggest the school that I worked at? No, because I know they always have potential to screw the next person who comes along.

There is a need anyway for a database on this website...a recruiters black list and name and shame list too.

As some of the other commentators have already said, one solution would be to not use recruitment agents as most of them will try to scam you. For general blacklists of recruiters in China there are a few websites out there though. The China Foreign Teachers Union probably being the most useful.

MARON Kindergartens will cheat your pay, benefits, never help with the work visa they promise and if you complain they call the police on you and threaten to have you deported. And all of these promises are on a contract written and signed by them. If you want any proof I will gladly email you everything you need.

Disney English are only legally allowed to operate in Shanghai and Beijing but they have schools in lots of different cities, so if you work in a city other than Beijing or Shanghai then you will not have a valid work permit, for example, if you work in Nanjing then your work permit will be for Shanghai. They will tell you to go to Shanghai and book into a hotel for 30 days. The hotel will then issue you a temporary residence permit. Disney English will tell you to check out the following day. They will use the hotel's temporary residence permit to get you a work permit for Shanghai, then you will be sent back to Nanjing.

Wow, that's like Chinese against their own laws and rules. Great picture about Chinese being honest with themselves.
