Q: Bo Xilai seems at ease with his life sentence?
So is it just me or is does it seem the Bo Xilai seems a little too at ease with his sentence? Just a curious question. Every picture I see of this guy he has a small smirk on or if not that, its not the face of a man who looks distressed about a up coming life sentence. Even though in 10 days he has a chance to appeal I doubt he will win.
Maybe he will just be confined to a luxury mansion. Even though what is happening seems like the CR, it is still modern times.
for the last week one of my main online news sources has had all the pages referring to Asia blocked. On headline referred to a 'luxury' prison, but i couldn't find out any more.
maybe he is just happy he didn't get diagnosed with a soon to be fatal case of lead-posioning ?

he will be released later by the party when his influence is no longer a threat, his son is the one in real danger, made a lot of enemies
Frankly, I think China is at risk for a military coup. I'm also insane, but between recent military saber rattling and a few 'rumors' of BXL having contacts in the supply corps, I see interesting times ahead.

No, not really the party army divide is a big deal here, unlike North Korea which is proudly military first.
He's probably not even going to prison. It's probably a "look at us - we really mean to get tough on corruption this time" from the Brylcreem boys in Beijing. Just another big show for the watching world.
Why would some people think it is about corruption?This is NEVER the main reason to sentence a senior/top official like Bo Xilai afer Mao's period.I know many people regard mao as a tyrant but frankly speaking he was very strict with the economic crimes.
Back to the topic.Bo's problem is rather a political one than an economic one.But as you know,political problem in China is not the kind which can be shown to the public.So it's very common to sentence someone in the name of economic crime,and yeah sometimes sexual crime too.
So what's wrong with Bo's political path?Even in CCP the top leaders also have different ideas and visions.When the inside election finishes,there are always some conflicts and compromises.Bo wanted to enter the nine top leaders' group which is the real boss of China but he failed.
What's worse he wanted to have a last shot which made the game not "win or go home" but "win or die"--He visited the military force in Yunnan publicly which was too sensitive because his father used to be the general in that army.This was a sign of challenge to the whole party and affected the bottom line.Hence no doubt his political life would be terminated.For these kind of political criminals the most possible result is to be put under house arrest.Dont need to worry about life but no future as a politician any more,just like Zhao Ziyang if you have heard about him.
