I hope so, we will have to wait and see. Maybe the bloody Tories might make it easier for Chinese spouses to live in the UK instead of having requirements that stop 42% of the population from being able to do it.

The UK Government are happy to take my Chinese tax buck to build infrastructure in the UK.
But they will do nothing to represent me in terms of my human right to a family life. They will not lobby China to allow me long term residence in China. And if I decide to return to the UK, I will have to deal with the enforced separation from my family while my wive's visa is being processed.
It's actually a stupid situation. The UK Government sets immigration targets to pander to the UKIP voters. But they do nothing to help me as a Brit to gain some long term security to live in China. The only way I can get real security is to move my family to the UK..... but the UK does not want my wife there because it will impact on their immigration targets.
Here is my take on it. If the UK imposed the same rules to Chinese nationals as China imposes on us regarding right of abode status, we would probably see thing change pretty fast in our favour.
I bet Uncle Xi, during the state banquet, suggested to Prince Philip afterwards they should head out to the KTV bar. Invite Cameron and a few of the lads along as well. Get the girls lined up at the bar - Prince Philip to choose first.
Leave the women at home to do the housework - Xi taitai could teach the Queen how to "bao jiaozi".

Yes, that could happen. But I'm interested to know how many people of the UK actually know he's visiting? And of those who do, how many care?
Some American friends of mine have told me his visit to the US went largely unnoticed, despite the fever perpetrated by the Beijing controlled Chinese media.

Off on a slight tangent, but connected to the UK/China state visit.
The Conservative Government in the UK have the mantra of "privitise everything".
They want private sector investment in schools, in healthcare, local Government, security. Their whole policy is based on things being in private ownership. Someone has to make a buck from any service. They do stupid things such as sell off the railways, then subsidizes them, with the subsidy going into share holders pockets in the form of dividends.
It is pure capatalism. That is what they promote.
I need help with this. Can a capatalist explain to me why the UK needs Chinese money ( our tax buck), to invest in UK infrastructure such as power stations and railway lines?
After all, China is not exactly what I would define as a "private sector" investor.
It all seems very strange to me. And I can't figure out how it works.
When I paid UK tax, the UK Conservatives would say not a penny of it should be used towards state owned assets. They said everything had to be privately owned.
But now I live in China and pay Chinese tax, my tax is going towards UK infrastructure. I presume China will make a return on it's investment of course.
Now, I am not knocking the UK/China trade deals, or the State visit. Good things will come from it.
But I really struggle to understand the thought process of Conservatives/Republicans when it comes to their "privitise everything" stance.

Give you a hint: I'd begin studying what Margaret Thatcher did 30 years ago (you should be well informed already I think) and what are the mantras the Neo-liberals are following. Why are they doing this? Very simple. It's the best way to destroy 200 years of people's blood shed for democracy and social conquers. It's a process going on worldwide, so evident that even left wing politicians would notice, if they wouldn't be part of the game.
The UK Government are expected to announce today that Chinese Nationals will be able to get two year multiple entry tourist visas for the UK. At present 6 month tourist visas are the norm.
That's good for us Brits with Chinese partners.
