Q: Brown sugar soothes cramps?

Obviously I call bull crap on this one. I asked a friend why she didn't take any pain medication for cramps, and she said that her doctor told her she shouldn't take any pills. She is just supposed to eat brown sugar. I told her that brown sugar doesn't do anything special, and she was shocked. I don't know if she misunderstood him and he meant "the pill" or if he's ignorant, but I gave the poor girl some ibuprofen. I bet there are some even crazier things you've heard doctors say here. Any good ones?
