Q: the BS excuses

Prelude: headed back home to Aus for a few days anyway while back home I noticed the change of how airlines are in each country. The plane leaving Brisbane got delayed due to storms in Guangzhou no problem and promptly advised the passengers of this delay. Get to Guangzhou 1 hour late no big dramas for myself until the BS excuses start coming out on the flight to Beijing (Same flight as Brisbane to Guangzhou) the passengers from Brisbane were in the international terminal and advised that we cannot depart on schedule due to traffic control and left four hours later, however the domestic passengers who were waiting at the domestic terminal got told the plane was delayed due to the passengers from the Brisbane flight were missing and when we boarded the flood of abuse got thrown our way saying why did you hold the flight back and shit like that.

Why would an airline have another excuse and not just keep to the same reason as we got told????

Lack of communication. If people do not know the answer they will invent one. What may have happened was that the local terminal did not get the news the international terminal got, so as per their 5,000 years of culture, they made it up.

Haha, this week, I'm asking every student a difference between America and China. You wouldn't believe how difficult it is for some of them to think of something, although I will help if they're truly stuck. Every class has someone that brings up "We have 5,000 years history and America has 300 years history." One person even said we only had 100 years of history! I was like "Oh no, oh no no no. You're telling me that we've only been in America for 300 years?" Then I go on to say that it was discovered at least 500 years ago, not to mention there were people living here for thousands of years. Add to that that our history is also what we brought with us, the history of Europe, which is just as long as any Chinese history...I have fun with that one. They also try to tell me that Americans have blue eyes and blonde hair, at which point I pretend to look really confused, because I'm a brunette with green eyes. They don't seem to realize there are Americans who look Chinese, or that many Americans have brown hair and brown eyes.

True!

I was once asked by a student "Why are you foreigners always so tall?"

I am 5'6" (168 cm).  So, looking puzzled I walked up to him and stood next to him. He was more than a head taller than me!  After a moment, everyone laughed....

Tell them North america has 15,000 years of history, the first immigrants came to North America then, and they still keep coming today.

Thanks god! I thought I was the only one getting this! I mean the no why one! I want to beat the crap out of my mother in law every time she says that. Sometimes I' d ask her to do things as I say (regarding my child mostly) and she would go :" but we do it this other way" so I'd ask why. Her answer is meiyou weishenme! So my reply lately is: if there isn't a reason do as I say! Not about airlines, but I thought it'd fit the situation!

BJ is the worst airport for delays I've been told there is a weather delay under blue skies. I bet there is some international law against lying about this kind of shit.

Hakupatasa:

I hate BJ airport. Whenever I go there I cross my fingers for on-time landing. Once on the way to Beijing, just 10 minutes before landing we landed at another airport and stayed inside the plane for more than 3 hrs.

Next time when i was supposed to be off from Beijing, same old story that we had to stay inside the plane for more than 2 hours.

Causes for both delay: WEATHER.

After hearing from other colleagues about similar stories about BJ. I suspect that flight in or out of BJ mostly in the afternoon is prone to this delay. Now, I am trying to avoid arrival or departure time from BJ in the afternoon.

I am not sure if others also noticed this fact.

Once took a flight from Haerbin to Changsha that stopped in Tianjin on the way. The Tianjin take off was delayed for more than two hours in perfect weather conditions. The excuse being "Too much air traffic in the Beijing area".

When is there not "too much air traffic in the Beijing area" and surely this could have been planned for?

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
