Q: buying a cow and get free milk

So here i had some interesting conversation with someone. They said, why buying a cow without getting free milk?

At first i thought it makes sense. Then I thought...but why buying a cow if you can get free milk?

So eventually, I suggested bottled milk. They said, well, after all, we don't just want milk, we also want company.

They also told me, if the cow gives away free milk, it'll eventually develop something deep between the man and the cow.

What's your opinion?

"They also told me, if the cow gives away free milk, it'll eventually develop something deep between the man and the cow."

Because of gender imbalance, 15% of Chinese males like yourself won't be able to find a partner. So I don't judge the "alternative" lifestyle choices you make. Others might, though.

Practice your English more.  The phrase is "why buy the cow if you get the milk for free?"

It is an analogy used by backwards people who think that sex is only acceptable within a marriage, originating from when women were still considered property.

The "cow" is the woman, "milk" is sex, so... "Why buy a cow (marry a woman) if you get the milk (sex) for free."

In other words, if a woman has sex with a man before he marries her, then he will never marry her.  Because he can have sex with her anyway.

Bottled milk? You know those more expensive ones, with added chemicals, you risk your health and life to drink one, with expiry date. Unlike the cows, though not 100% safe, can at least provide more ways to die from drinking milk.

Presuming Spider's interpretation above is correct, then I have to ask what I see as the most obvious question in such discussions...

Why is it seen that it's only men who want (and enjoy) the sex, and the women who only want the marriage (but don't really enjoy the sex - it's like a cow being milked - hence the analogy). I mean, seriously, with the number and intensity of orgasms that women can have, it OUGHT to be the other way around!!!

Spiderboenz:

What I find strange is that I have primarily only ever seen it used by older women, spoken to a younger women. As if a women only has any worth as a virgin.

My opinion: Chinese people (you) seem to take metaphors way too seriously like the metaphor is literal in some way.

Well, the obvious answer is because you are probably not the only drinker from the said cow who is giving away free milk.  If you are ok with that, then bon appetit.  I myself prefer a meal over just a glass of milk.  And I won't be sharing my meal with 10 other people.

Clearly you have issues with those that enjoy a crisp cold glass of milk for free when you have no choice but to pay for it.

I neither buy the cow nor the milk but my thirst is always quenched, wink

The thing is, every Chinese males that I know never ever had milk that wasn't paid for, this can easily be seen through their behavior in the presence of cows. Free milk is earned through (real) self-confidence and manliness, two virtues that your average Chinese man lacks, even more so the gay-ass fuerdai whose confidence, or more so arrogance, is based on rather shaky facts and easily shattered.

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
