My bed is terrible, with the springs on one side completely broken, leading to that portion of the bed pretty much sinking like quicksand every time I lie down on it.
I've been in my apartment a year now, so I doubt I could get my landlord to pay for it. I've heard some people say they bought memory foam toppers instead of purchasing a new mattress and it worked great. Has anyone tried this? Any idea of what the price difference might be between the two, or what big stores generally sell them?
When I moved into my new apartment the bed was a rock even though it was new.
I tried for 2 weeks to get used to it and I finally had enough even though my gf loved it (what's up with that?)
I found a memory foam pad at Vanguard for only 225 yuan and it has made a world of difference for me. It is about 2 inches thick and It is even covered in nylon fabric so its easy to clean.
Memory foam will make even the hardest bed feel decent. I don't have any here, but I do at home, and that mattress is as hard as a rock. I wish I had bought some for my bed in China, but didn't get around to it. I can't wait to go home and sleep on the memory foam.
I do have a close friend from England, and he just bought one of those memory foam mattresses. I was by his home yesterday and laid on it, and it was very nice and comfortable. Until I asked him how much he paid. His bed is 200 x 190 centimeters, he paid 6,000 Rmb for the gitzmo.
I think I will try the two inches thick foam pad first and see if it works the same, One huge difference in price, for that I can spend one week in Thailand.
