Q: Calling/texting a Mainland number from Hong Kong w/ a local number?

I'm in Hong Kong for a few days with a local telephone number. Is it possible to call/text a mainland telephone number with this HK number (and not incur ridiculous charges)? If so, what's the country/region code I use?

Thanks!

My aunt in HK says it's pretty expensive to call from HK to mainland China with a Hong Kong number. They usually use Skype to call me.

But if you insist in calling, the country code for China is 86.

Try texting, usually that's always cheaper.

So, if you would text, send it to: +86- mainland China cell number.

And if that doesn't work, text it to: 0086- mainland China cell number.
