Q: Can anyone give me some tips on Hainan island?

I'm thinking of coming back to China and was contemplating going to Hainan, the small island in the south.

From what I've heard, it's absolutely beautiful, but since I only have 3 weeks to go around and visit, I was wondering if people who'd gone there before had found it worth it. Is there much to see and do? I like the beach and the sun as much as I like to visit temples and stuff... I don't want it being just one or the other.

Thanks for the advice!

If you are Chinese, it's definately a must go! I went to Haikou and Sanya. Go to Sanya in the south. The beach is really beautiful. Hotels like the Sheraton and Hilton have great food and are really comfortable. You can even go diving if that is interesting for you. The street BBQ was great and I looked really hard to find the famous Hainan Chicken Rice. though I couldn't find it. There is a pearl museum and a building ofr a summit meeting in 1996 which was a real bore. Near Hainan is also a monkey island.

But the best part is the beach, fresh coconuts and seafood. Try and find a 2 rmb note with the picture of the rocks on it!

Happy travels
