Q: Can anyone recommend a clean and reasonably priced hotel in Nanjing?

I will be in Nanjing on Tuesday evening of 18 June 2013. Will have to stay for a night and so can anyone recommend a clean and reasonably priced hotel.

Thanks.

I generally have good experience with 7 Days In. It's pretty much the bare minimum ,but clean and cheap. Have not tried in Nanjing.

I know here in Hebei, 7 days aren't allowed to take foreigners(at least in the two cities I've been to). Maybe in bigger cities? I always check on hostelworld.com You can choose from a range of prices and facilities and read reviews of previous travellers. I had no problems in Hong Kong, Guilin, Shanghai, Beijing, Qingdao and Zhengzhou using hostelworld.

Scandinavian:

I have successfully checked in so-called foreigners in 7 Days in. I think it is possibly due to the fact they are trained in getting peoples ID from a standard chines ID card rather than a passport. Maybe the trick is to register on the web site first. (you also save a couple of kuai when you book online)

When I travel to Nanjing, I always stay at the same hotel,  the Shuguang International Hotel.  It is the first hotel on the right if you are exiting the train station (west of Nanjing Railway Station)  I've always received good service and a clean, stylish room with a great view.  I don't know your idea of a reasonable rate since everyone is different.  My idea of reasonable is around 550RMB and this one fits the bill nicely.

Haha, for me reasonable is like 200 kuai...

xinyuren:

Oh,  In that case you can rely on one of the budget chains like Jinjiang and Greentree Inn.

For value for money and reasonable comfort, Hanting usually take some beating. You can find them on www.elong.com then when you check in, you can usually get a free discount card for future visits to any Hanting in China Mainland. I have often found the discount card price is better than the price you can get through online booking sites.
