Q: Can anyone recommend a good swimming pool in central Beijing?

I'm living in Gulou area and could do with a good swimming pool. I keep being taken to public ones and there just isn't the room to do laps with the amount of people. Granted I was going during the summer when there are bound to be more people (I just got back to Beijing). Anyone know of any not too far away that are affordable and actually allow for serious swimming. Thanks.

Chaoyang Park South Gate (about 150m east of it) has a good pool (50m) with two lanes for serious swimmers. Not everyone in those two lanes always is serious, but in general it is quite good. Buying 30 tickets at a time gets the price down quite a bit, so I would recommend that. Also, try to swim during meal times - it is really empty then

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
