she'll have to get the right visa...which would probably be a tourist visa.

As long as both of you have the bf/gf status, she can come to China only with a tourist visa (except naturally if she finds a job here, then she can get a working visa).

However, depending on the country you're coming from, partnership are often recognized at the same level as a married status (for instance in France). Under that provision, and without being really married, you can obtain the same kind of visa/resident permit as yours.

The answer is yes of course. Bring her here on a tourist visa. You get 30 days and easily get the extension of 30 days after that. If you still like each other after 60 days you can stretch it to 90 days with some help from your employer and a small bribe to the local official!
If after 90 days you STILL think you are made for each other and there might even be a prospect of finding her a job you can actually apply to have her stay in China under your Foreign Experts Work Visa. However, I think within that 90 days, and before you apply for her to be under your visa, you need to legalise the relationship with a bit of official looking paper....nuisance that!
If you don't want the hassle of all the above and believe me the bureaucracy involved can be mind boggling, find a Chinese GF. But, as we all seem to be aware, apparently there is much danger in that path as well!!

He doesn't know he's a troll... Honestly if I could find a western woman it would be nice truth be told, some stimulating conversation, and mutual thoughts and understanding... This is like great meaningless sex with locals...

a western woman would have him curled up in a fetal position, self soothing in between the tears, begging for his mom to come save him. A good one, anyway. A bad one would just strap him down in the corner and make him watch while she had her way with a good ole' western man.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
