Q: Can I buy Hulled Hemp Seeds and Chia Seed for my Smoothies in Qingdoa?
Hi there! Are there shops that sell hulled hemp seed or chia seed to add to my homemade smoothies?
Can I bring them into China?
Can I buy Soya Protein powder for my protein shakes?
Thanks.
I lived in a place where it grew wild everywhere. I heard the seed was sold as bird food so if all else fails go to a pet shop.

That most likely wasn't in China. Human consumes seeds in China ... Hemp seed has 'healing' properties.
In Fuk, Xinjiang farmers plant hemp (or most likely it grows by itself after the first plant ...) on the side of the corn plantations, so birds munch less on corn and more on hemp seeds.
Almost every corn plantation has abundant hemp plants near-by/on each side of the plantation.
You can buy hemp seeds (packed in grocery bags) in Xinjiang and Kunming.
I ain't sure about 'hulled'..., but they chew them like any other seeds.
Did you know weed (hemp) originated in China some many thousand years ago ...?

In 1997, a hemp rope dating back to 26,900 BC was found in Czechoslovakia, making it the oldest known object to be associated with marijuana. Since that time, hemp has played an important role in humanity’s development. For thousands of years marijuana was not only legal, but an important crop among cultures throughout history, and held commercial, medicinal, and spiritual value.
The cultivation of cannabis, commonly known as marijuana, can be traced back at least 12,000 years, which places the plant among humanity's oldest cultivated crops. Cannabis plants are believed to have evolved in Central Asia in the regions of Mongolia and southern Siberia. The earliest cultural evidence of Cannabis comes from the oldest known Neolithic culture in China, the Yangshao, who appeared along the Yellow River valley. From 5,000 to 3,000 B.C the economy of the Yangshao was cannabis-driven. Archaeological evidence shows they wore hemp clothing, wove hemp, and produced hemp pottery.
The first recorded use of marijuana as a medicinal drug occurred in 2737 BC by the Chinese emperor Shen Nung. He documented the drug’s effectiveness in treating the pains of rheumatism and gout. Both hemp and psychoactive marijuana were widely used in ancient China. The ancient Chinese used virtually every part of the Cannabis plant: the root for medicine; the stem for textiles, rope and paper making; the leaves and flowers for intoxication and medicine; and the seeds for food and oil. Cannabis seeds were also one of the grains of early China and ancient tombs of China had sacrificial vessels filled with hemp for the afterlife.
I am also keep thinkin' about afterlife...

High Times in Ancient China: 2,700-Year-Old Marijuana Stash Found in Shaman Grave
A 2,700-year-old stash of whole marijuana plants was uncovered in an ancient tomb in northwest China. If marijuana aged like wine, the rare “artifact” may be one of the most wanted objects for all...

I have no idea where Qingdoa is. Anywhere near Qingdao? But I can buy both hemp and chia in this 3rd level city in Guangxi no problem. But I don't fall for the BS new age superfood marketing nonsense, so I never buy them.
