Q: Can I extend my L visa in Shenzhen?

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I found a similar topic but it was over a year old and I figure things may have changed. Anyways I'm on a L visa that will expire in a few days and I want to stay in China. I'm American so the visa fees are pretty outrageous in my opinion (like 900rmb for a 30 day visa) but a friend told me that I could extend my visa 2 times in China and that it wouldn't be as expensive (I think he said around 160rmb) is this true? What do I need to do?

Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated as I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.

You nee to go to your local PSB with someone fluent in Chinese to interpret.  Bring your passport, take some ID photos just in case they are required at your location, and apply for a 30 days extension.  Normally it will be granted provided you can show you have either 20,000 yuan in cash with you, or a savings account at a Chinese Bank in your name with at least that amount deposited there.  Nothing else is acceptable, so if you have US credit cards, go to a bank and get cash advances to get the Rmb.  Two extensions could be granted, the second one when the first is about to expire.  After that, you must leave China.

Now, one question for you. Why ask for a 30 days stay, when you can get 60 days or even 90 days for the same price?. And by the way, cost of visas in Chinese minds are sort of reciprocal, Americans pay for a Chinese visa what Chinese pay for a visa to USA. And the same policy for other countries too.

yeah, i get it about the US charging more, but they don't directly give that money to me and I have to directy give it to every country every time I cross a border. I guess no one complains as so few americans travel.

Wait, so I can get a 60 or 90 day extension on a 30 day visa?

I wont be able to come up with 20,000 rmb in cash by today (when I figure I should go as the weekend is coming up) is there any way around that? What should I do? I'm getting the feeling that things are about to suck. I didnt need any proof of money to get the original visa, am i going to have to pay out the ass again to get a new 1 month?

What is the cheapest way for me to simply stay in Shenzhen?

Thanks so much for your time and info!

If this helps anyone: I ended up going to HK to get it done. It was pretty easy although expensive as I have a US passport. I got 30 days 2 entries meaning (to the best of my understanding and someone please correct me if I'm mistaken) that I can be in china for 30 days, take the metro to HK and come right back in for another 30 days. I talked to an agent after it was too late who said he could have got me 6 months for only slightly more than I paid so its probably worth shopping around.

Boy, you guys need an agent to help you get a 12 month Business visa... about 5k first time 4k the following year. They write the invite letter for you.

can you give the agent contact number for that?

The easiest way to be in Shenzhen is to live in Hong Kong and get the  limited pass into Shenzhen every weekend. Hong Kong is better than Shenzhen.

This is the best IDEA

zen911, Can you explain to me how I can get that Business visa? Is it only necessary to have an invitation letter?

Thanks,

JungleLife:

Easy to get one without having an invitation letter in HK depending on your nationality. All the hotels in Chungking and Mirador Mansions can do this.

business visa is not up to date anymore, its harder to get after the changes but still can try to go to hong kong to the agencies and pay 3k rmb for 6 month. But now you have the problem you have to leave every 30 days and reenter china.

in Shenzhen it's 7000 now, not 3000... This was after the Law Past...

yes, you can,  you can get a one year visa  M or L , very easy and convenient  ,contact this email, she is very helpful   charityzx@hotmail.com

ironman510:

Visa agents who claim to be able to procure visa' are outlawed in China (again, I stated this back in July) for this very reason. They simply do not have the authority to get a visa - no matter what they tell you. They are nothing more than charlatans, sharks, used car salesman, ticket touts or any other scum who prey on the needs of others. Agents like FBT in HK are reputable go-between who do not claim to be able to get you anything. They act as an agent on your behalf to apply for you - that is all. There is no guarantee they will be successful, nor do they claim such - learn the difference. Any who do should be flayed alive and left out on pikes as an example to others. Wise up foreigners they always say 'you're are easily fooled' try proving them wrong eh, and get smart.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
