Q: Can I get a Chinese L Visa in Macau?
Hi,
I'm coming to the end of my stint working in China. I have so far had 2 years on legit working residence permits. However, I didn't really get to see as much of China as I would have liked.
I want to go to Macau. Can I change my residence permi (valid until July) into an L visa?
If so - who should I look for?

you don't need to do that only because you wish to see China..
No body is going to send you to jail if you are traveling/visiting places having a residence permit...
Even if you want to do that I think you can't do it because you don't have a Macau residence permit

His concern is that his visa/residence permit is going to the end, as his work is ending too. He want go to Macau, and than back to China, but his permit will be already invalid at that time. that is his question about, if I got it right. \

but then this solution comes to my mind..
why not get an L visa where he is currently living.. he can travel to Macau after getting L visa.. instead of going there and getting it..
and for my country citizens, we are not allowed visa on arrival after 2010, earlier we were allowed.. Maybe OP has that option according to his country

At first you must make sure your passport is allow go to Hongkong or Macau. As what I know some East European passport holder are disallowed to apply China visa. Even they allow able to get 7 days in ShenZhen developing district. For my advice is if your Z visa going to expire soon. You can extend one more month in mainland then you have to leave after 30 days. You can go to Thailand or Malaysia to apply L visa.
Usually they will give 30 days and after you back to China. Look for the agent like us to help you extend for 90 days.

I will pick up my passport later and see what I have (should be double entry - 30day stay L visa). I will attempt to extend once in China.
I'm hoping they haven't cancelled my residence permit as I'm going to hop into Macau and had hoped to meet up with a friend in shenzhen first, and that would avoid me using an entry.
