no probable not Especially if they have underpaid migrant workers but that is a general rule for all countries don’t leave stuff out there. But if you feel is safe then go for it, Especially if you have travelers insurance.

If you are talking about a "labtop", I reckon you will have no problem.  Some may wonder why you carry the top of a lab bench with you, but foreigners in China seem to be odd persons to Chinese people.

But if you are like me, big fingers and small keyboard, and you are talking about a laptop computer, and it is not well hidden inside your suitcase, then I do hope you have good travel insurance, and do have a back up somewhere nearby.

Jiliu hasnt even been to China. Seriously dude, how the hell do you think you're qualified to answer these types of questions.

I left my luggage in storage once but not my laptop, but my friend did and it was fine.  I guess it really depends on the hotel.  You sometimes have to use your own sense of judgement.   We were staying in a cheap hotel but it catered to foreigners so I guess it was ok.   If you havnt got insurance like Happy said, I wouldnt risk it.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is 'Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer; 2. Employer applies for an Invitation letter; 3. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
