Q: Can I Switch Fields and Go to Graduate School in a Different Area?

Universities require that all students choose majors - primary fields of study - early in their academic career. Many students choose majors that interest them, but as seniors (or even after graduation) realize that their heart lies in another field. Is it possible for a student pursue an undergraduate degree in one field and then a graduate degree in another? Are you limited by your college major?

Yes, it is possible to switch majors, and most Chinese universities are very flexible about it, just make sure you don't draw attention to yourself by mentioning that you want to do your postgraduate studies in a different major. Just send your application form and specify what major you want to study. As long as you are going to bring in hard cash, you will be more than welcome. Good luck!
