Not with that spelling and grammar. You should learn English first. Move along.

You could be able to at least tutoring if not teaching an entire class. But seriously you need to go to a higher learning institution and get your degree. I hope you don't plan to go through life with just a highschool cert. because there are too many people with just that diploma and it limits your options on getting further job offers in the future.

well you clearly arent a native english speaker. i guess you are another poser. "high school cert"

MissA:

The high(er) school certificate, usually referred to as 'HSC', is the leaving certificate in Australia (in my state at least), and cert. is a common short form for certificate. That much, at least, is reasonable. The inability to use the past form of 'pass' is a much bigger flag.

In Aussie they call a diploma a certificate?

MissA:

Not exactly: some universities will offer one-year diplomas, and some non-university tertiary education institutions offer diplomas. Also, I believe if you study towards a trade you will receive a diploma from the technical school (TAFE). The certificate for leaving high school is referred to as a certificate, we would never refer to a high school diploma, and in this I think we use different terminology from the US system.

Just to fill out what Miss A said (cos I used to work in govt for the Dept of Education and Training - so it was my job to know...).

Aust has, at the 'college' level, Certificate's I - IV, then Diploma, and then Advanced Diploma. Cert I is usually considered useless, but is used primarily as a stepping stone to the others if needed (ie, shcool wasn't good enough). It also covers the basics (usually something like OH&S issues), TAFE (Technical and Further Education) often offers up a Cert I in some fields to students in high school - usually those not interested in uni, but need to get the basics before entering into their career - it lets them finish school, as well as begin a trade - and gives them some useful skills along the way. (Retail, hospitality, fashion, engineering, carpentry, etc) They used to be Colleges of Advanced Education (CAE's), but they got melded with the TAFE system, and is administed by the State Government (but overseen by the Federal) - and, better yet, all subjects are aligned throughout the whole country... so, doing subject XYZ in Victoria has equal standing (and is, in fact, on the same database (or can be imported)) as the same subject studied in Western Australia!

Cert II Is the usual first stepping-off point - after 6 months full-time. Then a Cert III after another 6 months, and usually the Diploma after 1 year after that (2 years in total). That Diploma usually gives 1 year advanced standing at most unis.

If you do a trade (ie, apprenticeship), you come out with a Cert III in ...(Engineering - Mechanical, or, Cert III in Hospitality (Cookery) to be a chef, for example).

Advanced Diplomas are usually after 3 years of study... though I'd say they're getting phased out, in favour of just doing undergrad (ie, Bachelor's degree).

We finish high school at one of 2 levels - after 10 years (Junior Certificate), or 12 years (Sendior Certificate) - they have varying names across the country, because they're adminstered by the states.

Unis, while under the jurisdiction of the federal government (ie, accreditation, language proficiency, etc) are still basically their own entity... so getting a degree at one uni still means a headache in transferring to another uni :( (however, it should be getting better soon)

There - far more than you ever needed to know (or care) about our education system! :D

yes but be ready to do some shady things one of the guys i know who teaches over seas has a degree from new Zealand colleges that he never went to a a bunch of schools who only care is if the collage can send them a fake time table that makes it look like you have a degree. by the way if you want to go that way keep in mind that for those types of system to work you need to be at least 21.

For Crimo, I agree he said HS Cert. No typos, he's an Aussie with no place to go other than China to teach ESL, good thing he's white and poor, he'll fit right in to the profile. Sorry other races with high degree's, wait in line while the Aussie with a High School Diploma tries to teach, he's white so his English must be better. You know the funny thing is, the Chinese parents actually don't care

GuilinRaf:

I had a friend from Sierra Leone who had a Masters in English! None of the Universities or Training centers would touch him, even though he was a REAL English teacher. They had different excuses ("his pronounce is too terrible" was the most common I heard). They just do not grasp the concept of "accent".  Eventually, he found a job teaching in a middle school, which even though they paid better than my University gig, he was not really happy there.

Eventually however, because of his degree he got a University job  in Macao.

It really burned me up that this guy, MUCH more qualified than most of us to teach English, could not get a job because he was not white.

GR, as you probably know, such a Master's doesn't mean one can teach... I've got (sort of... 'it's in the post' :p) a M.App.Ling - means notihing! I learn bugger all in the TESOL context.

However, yeah, I'd probably rate him as much better than most people claiming to teach over here. Sucks!!!! (but, we have enough threads on the racism, and the lack of logic, in China...)

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
