Q: Can I use a Mac to buy anything, ANYTHING in China?
It seems like no matter what browser I use, I can't use my Chinese bank card (already activated for Web use) to buy anything online with a Mac. There's always something I can't click or something that won't load; so I either have to find a computer that has Internet Explorer or get a Chinese friend to do it for me. So what, Mac users just can't make online purchases in China? Surely it's possible or Macs wouldn't sell at all in China.... right?

use bootcamp to create a partition in your Mac HDD and install windows 7 in that... boot to windows and pay..
I feel you buddy... I've tried a few or so solutions and none of them work. Internet banking with a Mac is a no no (unless, like Thakkudu mentioned, you install windows).
Construction Bank offers a special zhifubao (Alipay) card, and I've read that with that card you won't need internet banking to pay for anything, just the card number and your password. I didn't go through with that card because the name of your zhifubao account should be the same as the name on the card and a few other things need to be the same as well. I just gave up in the end because going 2 times and waiting in line every time for what seemed like eternities, was just too stressful.
Huaxia Bank also offered a similar card and I managed to open one with the help of the staff (less stressful than Construction Bank and much easier) but in order for a person to link that card to a zhifubao account, he has to input his Chinese ID number and passport numbers don't work. So much for that one.
Nowadays I just buy stuff that have the option where I can pay when the package is delivered.
There is another way to pay online for stuff though, again with a zhifubao account. You can open one and then recharge the account at most all the 7-eleven stores, OK stores and I think also China Post. They have a service called "la ka la" and you just transfer money from your bank account into you zhifubao account. That service does have a transaction fee though. I think they take 1-2% of the amount you're transferring.

Ah yes, I've actually tried to get a similar card with Postal Savings Bank but still ran into software problems. Sigh. Thanks for the response though.
yeah, China internet services are Not MAC friendly. CMB electronic banking on Mac? No.
Campus internet system support Mac? No.
weird but true,, the few people I ever heard address the issue say Mac's are too expensive, not many nationals have them, so, we don't go to the trouble to support them.
