An X-1 visa, or long term student visa, allows for you working on an internship provided by the school you are enrroled in, and related to your field of study. Now, how this is interpreted and applied at each school in China is another story.
The last I was aware if you have an X1 visa you can work for something like 15 days a month, provided you got permission from your university and the appropriate paperwork. But these things change quickly and often so do not take my word for it. Ask your university.
From my understanding, in order to legally work, you need a workers (Z) visa. To get a Z visa, you need a college diploma and at least two years working experience in the intended field.
However, a lot of companies have connections and people on the inside. I have heard of diplomas being created out of thin air.

Does anybody have actual experiences concerning this? I d be very interested to hear first-hand stories of those who have succeeded to make it official though their schools and those who have not (and why)
