Legally....no (Unless the school with your contract is doing one). BUT....I have been working summer camps for over four years. In fact, I am working at one now. You are considered an unpaid volunteer who gets reimbursed for travel and other expenses. It is never called a salary. It is never contracted. Just make sure that you are with an established camp that has guanxi with the local authorities.

Legally, Yes and No.

if you are on X2 Visa, this is not permitted.

If you are on an X1 visa, you need to first get an authorization letter from your school for internship or Part time job, then you take this letter along with your passport to the PSB, they will add a remark on your student visa to allow you to work/internship.

The school will usually give you this authorization after you present an internship agreement with your company. Try to match your studies with the job descriptIon of your summer camp.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
