Q: Can we have an "International news" catagory on ECC?

Somewhere for us to post and bicker. Where we can insult each other while we wait for new questions from people who really need answers. But open to all to observe. What do you think?

It's been bought up before, a news section.I remember commenting on it. Admin said something like that's a great idea - they may have said we'll get onto it I don't remember.

I guess they didn't want to follow through for whatever reason. I still think it would be a great idea. Look at reddit, it has China news and it's always busy.

Come to think of it, maybe it's a great way to get negative attention and get shut down too.

ScotsAlan:

What negative attention? This board is china themes only An international board here would give us a rant area.

Stiggs:

An international board would be cool, but isn't that basically the same as a current affairs board, which was ignored in the past?

I would understand why not. It could easily get too political  especially since some of the stuff that came up would inevitably involve China and the provinces, because that's where we all live and that's where our common interest is. The mods would need to be on top of their game to stop the site being shut down.

That's not to say I wouldn't love to see it here admin.

Shining_brow:

Yeah, what Stiggs said.

While we who are currently here know the 'rules' - written and unwritten - it would attract some attention from those not in China (and never been to China... and even those who haven't even been on a dating site to try to pick up a Chinese girl 30+ years younger than him to convert to his silly beliefs, cos she's 'traditional'...), and so those topics that would shut down a forum in China would get ECC shut down... probably within an hour!

As you said - could be done, but the mods would need to be on the ball... and probably paid, cos that'd be close to a full-time job!

Putin’s pulling out of Syria is a brilliant Double-Check move!

The whole purpose of the Syrian war was to remove Assad.

It has been so painful to watch Kerry’s “Assad’s gotta go” morphing into “Assad might stay for a few months” and into “Assad will stay for a while”, and finally his shutting the fuck up all together.

So, “check 1” - Assad remains in power, period!

And “check 2” - the line of hopeful Arms Buyers from all over the world is stretched down the street and around the Kremlin.

 'US poster...who knows, who he'll vote for.......surprise

yes, i'd love to see all non-china discussns bunched seperately atleast.

here the headin' itself says its a place to ask china related q's. if not followd, the utility of site is defeatd!

philbravery:

Unfortunately it is easier just to let it run the way it is. The souly China related questions ran out of puff about 3 to 4 years ago and people got more repeated questions than Friends has reruns . There used to be a separate forum in the Ecc golden years but nobody used it much or knew it was there.consequence was it got deleted. Ecc needs to evaluate there changes from last year and make some hard decisions. Like the wechat thing that will be the subject of tomorrows trivia post.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
