Q: Can you Just Keep on walking?

From the front page

a Old woman claims that the Guy who helped her up was the reason she fell.

This is why people do not get involved because it is more trouble than it is worth

However on the other side remember the 18 month old little girl that was killed because a car ran her over more than once

help was to little to late but at least the Woman who came to her aid tried

I have helped people here before after they have fallen but I must confess that I would have to re evaluate the situation first before I did in the Future.

Can you just keep on walking?

In my years here I have both intervened and walked-past. It's a sad commentary on society that when I did get involved I was sworn at and told to get lost while attempting to break up a boy/girl fight. I have seen people fall down and fall off their bikes (not often) and I have been shooed away by my wife or whoever is with me. Warned to not look - let alone lend a helping hand.

My wife and her parents watched a Canadian "Just for Laughs" gag reel the other day on CCTV. People were falling down and getting into minor accidents as a staged gag....100% of the time people would run to their aid only to be finally "let in on the joke" later. My mother in law asked. "Why don't they just walk past? Aren't they worried about getting blamed for the accident?"

Need I say more? There's that!

Being almost burned once before,  I have adopted a policy (and forced my mind to react accordingly even if it does make me feel lousy) that all I will do is either call the Police or an ambulance (or both), and keep on walking afterwards.

Jnusb416:

Honestly, that's the best course of action. At least someone will come to help them.

Hi Junsb: Glad to hear from you. Are you still back in the States, or gone elsewhere?. Hope everything is well with you and family, and many of us do miss you.

It's hard to just walk away especially if you see someone lying on the ground hurt. About several weeks ago a lady was laying in the road with about 50 or more people hovering around her. I got off the bus and noticed it. I kept going because I had to get somewhere, also because I didn't see what happened.

If you see the accident you should at least stop and give your statement to the police/authorities or the people that work at the hospital. That way they know where the person got hit and all of that information can be important later on if that person is in critical condition and they need to know that.

By the way you need to practice on your words 'too' and 'to'. I know they sound the same, but they have a different meaning.  He he, I said: "practice"! (Drunk!

I always intervene and help anyone in a dangerous situation. If they try to cheat me, their situation suddenly becomes infinitely more dangerous. devil

For sure i usually stop and think about helping them, but then that thought pops into my head again. I might get blamed and sued, or worse end up in a Chinese gulag and then deported!

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
