Q: Can you recomend a good book about Chinese history?
I would like to learn a little bit more about the history of China, every time I visit some place I am completely lost with all the dynasties, kingdoms, battles and famous people. Any book easy to read about the Chinese history?
You should probably narrow down if you want to learn about ancient China or e.g. last century.
A quick and cheap way is to go to http://chinahistorypodcast.com/ I am not completely through it yet. There is 100+ podcasts of 30-60 mins each covering different topics.
If you want something about last century, don't buy it in China. I can recommend "Mao The Unknown Story" by Chang & Halliday, (which I have not seen in Chinese bookstores, got one in Hong Kong)

“上下五千年” (5000 years) is good. It is written for kids, so if you're going to read it in Chinese it's simple.
