Q: Can you recommend some snacks for a long train ride that aren't instant noodles?
As I know how unhealthy they are. Other than peanuts and the lark, what kind of snacks for long train rides can you suggest? I'm just not sure what do trust!
Cucumber ,Bananas , melon seed ,
here are some other survival suggestions
Take a cup with a lid on it so you can make a coffee /tea / hot chocolate when you feel the need
take toilet paper and do not take your phone to the W/C incase you drop it
take some tunes to listen to as you look out the window as the pipe music is composed by the same guy that does the elevator music
get the top sleeper bunk if you want to be left alone
get the bottom bunk if you like the smell of feet
and the middle one if you plan on charging people to stare at you

hehe, thanks. It's actually not my first time doing a long distance train ride, and yeah I agree the top bunk is the best for avoiding potential staring.
Shrink wrapped chickens' feet and dehydrated seafood. Yummy!
Huajian Bao, they last a while and can be easily eaten cold. Indeed if you can eat bao cold almost any bao or baozi will do.
Chinese cake, the sponge is usually very soft and good for a few days.
As Phil has said almost any fruit, I would avoid Mango and Water melon though (too messy).
Beer and nuts? I like fruit and there is a small loaf of sweet bread that I am addicted to. There is canned ham etc, but I'd be afraid of being disappointed in so many chinese products, I don't like to eat alot of chips etc.. If you are travelling by yourself, then maybe a live chicken for company also, you can cook it or resell it later. A live chicken can be very entertaining on a long trip. Do you know the difference between a chinese chicken and one from home? The one from home can cross the road.
I'd make a bag of ham & cheese sandwiches, throw in some seeds & nuts, and lots of fresh fruit. Quantity would depend on how long your train ride is.
When I fly long-haul to the U.S. or Europe, that's what I pack. Oh, and a few cookies and Snickers chocolate bars for the sweet tooth.
Bon voyage!

Ha ha! Well you see, I've got this pet goat and... aww, forget it. Too long a story...

Rafi! No has oido lo mejor de la historia, que me compre el cabrito en Ciales a unos jibaros, bro. (Translation: Ralph, You haven't heard the best part of the story when I bought the kid in a little village in PR from some hillbillies, man!) Jaja! (Translation: Ha ha!)

Get Pringles' once you pop you can't stop! Other than that get some wasabi balls at one of the convenient stores that carry them. I think 7-11 might have them. Maybe you don't know what I'm talking about, but you can ask around for it at the store. They should carry this delicious snack! (!
Btw , I never thought MSG bothered me, my sister won't eat western Chinese food because of it. I found small packages of noodles that I like, but so small I have to eat two of them, First time I did that - bam- headache,I didn't clue in, second time -bam- severe migraine.. no more instant noodles.
Loads of fruit, peanuts and almonds, some sandwiches, water. Don't forget Ipod, and toilet paper.
Middle bed is better than top bed, because it is roomier. You can almost sit on it.
Bottom bed is the roomiest one, butt....half of the train will sit on with you.
You have to bring Snickers. I never leave the village without at least one Snickers for emergencies.
God, I'm gonna die for being this honest. Ahem, you can bring a bag of weed onto the train and smoke it. I may have some experience with this... no one will know what it is that you're smoking.
If traveling with people whom I work with I just take some fruit, bread, water, and my tablet. If with friends... yeah that and something to drink, jeigerbombs and bailey's is good on the train. Pretzels, chocolate mints, cookies, some chips, etc.. ah yes and rolling paper, because we ran out once and started using old newspaper and it was terrible.

That's a terrible idea. Many young guys will know what it is and the police that work on all trains may know.

I guess my friends and I have just been dodging that bullet every time we get stoned on overnight trains. In my experience if you walk around puffing smoke in peoples faces you do catch attention, but if you and your mates purchase the beds in the 4 bunk private rooms.. no one ever knows. I would not advocate walking around like Bob Marley because yeah maybe someone will catch on, but a room with a pack of foreigners filled with smoke.. who will disturb us? I'll see if we dodge that bullet again 2 weeks later.
Boil some eggs as many as you can handle that will keep you full.
pepperoni and cheese .... hard boiled eggs , more pepporoni and more cheese .... couple beer, tequila, salts and readily available limes.......... and the whiskey for backup.
well, they go by a lot of different names,,,,, but where I'm from we call them 'Power Bars'. Really popular for hiking and going places where u need concentrated food stuff that is non-perishable, easy to consume, and takes up minimum space. The catch is that the high-quality ones are way pricey in ChinaLand...
