Q: Can you still get antibiotics without a perscription in your city?

I hear the pharmacies have been saying no to people wanting to get them over-the-counter in some cities.

Antibiotics over the counter, it's a disaster in the making. It's a good thing that they are available only on prescription.

*** Dr Monkey Evening's Show : Antibiotics & Darwinian Evolution ***
Over-prescription, over-usage of antibiotics is creating an evolutionary pressure on the infecting micro-organism. Micro-organism mutates very fast, as they have short life cycles. Statistically, a smaller number of micro-organism are resistant to antibiotics. A massive, indiscriminate usage of antibiotics give a huge reproductive advantage to those resistant microorganism. Within a few years, the resistance to the antibiotic become the rule rather than the exception. It happened for several antibiotics already.

This is a good comment. The problem is not only in China, but actually the majority of the world. Not only antibiotics for humans, but also the overuse in farming is a threat to humans.

I don't eat pills! When prescribed by MD, I just bring them home.

It is very easy. Go into any 'pharmacy' and ask for 'Amoxicillin'. Very available and cheap.

No prescription necessary.

I can buy them in the pharmacy downstairs...over the counter.

But I discovered that too late.  If only I had known.... my ji ji might still be intact rather than in a jam jar wink
