Q: Can you use the Chinese Abacus Suanpan (suànpán) ?

Isnt it fascinating to see this ancient and historic 'calculating device' commonly used in China till date ?

I am getting one to learn to operate !

Yes. I learned this useless skill(?) at school. Then we checked the answer with a calculator. Yet another pointless thing I can do.

I look for at Yahoo-gle what is that sauce pan ...I knew the diff. between both pans, and I wanted to reply: 'I only use flat pan ....with cover.'surprise

Then I realized, 'spell checker' was immediately on my side too, because it converts 'suanpan' to 'sauce pan' .

Now, I am on 1800 m (many feet...) elevation, where O2 is rarer, so my brain might works slower, too. A bit.

Despite Guizhou Internet connection is also like 'world snails championship', I got what that is. It always looked like some kind of kids game to me.

I didn't know, that's an ancient calculator.

That might be the reason for constant overcharging in China.

I'll tell them to switch to digital....asap.

WhyHowWhen:

:-)  :-) I use flat pan too. Pls don't make them switch to digital yet.. this has survived eons of ages, let it be :-)

No, it is not fascinating.

Next stupid question.

WhyHowWhen:

Learn to say 'please' when you request something. Its manners.

Keep coming to check for next, since you are too idle to reply stupid questions.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
