Q: Can't connect to western sites for three days?
I can't seem to conect to anything, CNN, Salon, Vox, even Steam, but Taobao, Baidu and such work fine. Is this a hard block on foregin ISP's or something? I ping the sites and get nothing. It isn't a DNS problem, since I've flushed cache, and the server works for taobao etc..
...How about the rest of you? I'm in Heillongjiang...btw.

isn't there a conference planed so China can show the rest of the world how to control the Internet ?
I opened all web links in Henan, ancient capital of China....without using PNV. Just lousy internet connection.
In Hangzhou, and can get my usual Premier League to see Spurs doing well in consolidating 4th place 
I'm also streaming my usual Aussie radio station with no great issues. and read my US based online comic.
Wiki is fine.
Guess it is something else then...wonder what to do...

Maybe it's your Internet provider. Try some free wi-fi spot outside of your house, and if you'll see the difference, than it's your Broadband provider.
I am on housing wi-fi, and if there are many users on, I can't open anything. We have some Campus offices using wi-fi during the day. Around 7pm, everything is cool&dandy, because 'heavy' (print, fax) users are gone.
I also disconnect wi-fi tab on the puter, and reconnect it right back. Site always loads without pics, after such move.

First it is a problem at both work and home...
second I can't ping the websites, which means I'm getting a hardblock, normally when you ping, it should send the data, and then fail to respond...I'm not even able to send. So the IP address is displaying "timed out" which is too fast...

Maybe is your puter ???? infected with something?, if you're using same machine at different Internet providers.
And if you don't use the same machine, then block might stands for your area.
Get off the Windows. Try Mac with Safari. I suffer only because of weak Internet. Page doesn't load. If I can't open Yahoo or eChina, then my Internet is down, and if I can't open foreign websites, then it's weak Internet/too many wi-fi users.

Turns out it was ipv4 problems...a release/renew at the cmd prompt fixed it.
My internet has been iffy for a few days. Some of my regular sites work some days and not others. For example news.com.au only loads links to the stories and others not at all.
