Q: Capacity of a subway car; how over capacity are China's?
After being crushed to death this morning once again on my commute to work, I got to thinking, what is the capacity for a subway car and how overcapacity are Chinese subway cars?Anyone know?
Related question, where else in the world are subways this crowded? Are there any stats on this kind of thing?

I noticed from a recent trip back home and to Korea that the subways carriages are much wider than they are in Beijing. Same in Guangzhou. Peculiar seeing as Beijing's population vastly outnumbers that of Seoul!
I think Toyko's mass transit is just as bad, if not worse (in terms of overcrowding).
It's borderline insane when trying to take the subway during peak hours. I've experienced overcrowding in both the Shanghai and Guangzhou metro. In Guangzhou, every time I think people can't possibly squeeze themselves into the train anymore, I get proven wrong. Not 1, not 2, sometimes up to 5 people still shove and push themselves into the subway car.
I've heard as well that Tokyo's metro is pretty overcrowded. Heard they have staff on the platform that are actually there to help push people into the already full subway cars.
