Cars have automatic door locks, a thing not common to us simple Europeans, sure it exists, but people prefer to drive with unlocked cars so we can get rescued in case of an accident. Anyway. Yesterday, standing in the middle of the street (I was actually crossing it but had stalled due to unpredictable difficulties with my shoelaces. ) a Lexus comes charging towards me. It is doing about 100, it's a 50 zone with schools and stuff. Anyway. I put my hand out to signal that I would mind getting run down. As the car doesn't slow I start moving to the direction I am going in, the driver is already changing to that lane so it ends up he breaks hard and stops 5 meters from me. I change my flat palm to only show one finger, and then it happens. He reverses away from me. I would never car-jack a middle aged Lexus driven by a fat dude, an open top BMW M3 with a bimbo perhaps, but not this.
No, that's only a problem in WaiGuo land, not in the glorious land of China. The driver only retreated from you after he realized you were not a denizen of this most harmonious and holy of empires.
the driver seemed to be a bad one and the situation sounds very dangerous . I'm sorry about that . It's good you didn't get injured. China has too many bad drivers.
"Anyway. I put my hand out to signal that I would mind getting run down."
"I change my flat palm to only show one finger"
LOL!!!
I would've went Hulkjack on him. I'd don a leotard and some makeup, then beat him and take off with his vehicle. Then you'd see on the news "Shenjingbing waiguoren goes on a rampage!" When you do something, you should go all out. NEVER forget that, Ian.

yup, this was also one of the first times in my life I wish I had had a bag of rotten, yet still firm, apples
If the Chinese driver of a car, as usual, is a bad driver, a common person would never be able to drive a car if he stole it. I could not believe how little skill at driving, no one can park a car. I thought about offering a service or teaching it in my building.
Once I was talking to someone and a car was backing up, I moved away for no particular reason and as I did the car slammed into the wall where I was standing. I think the driver meant to take off but forgot she was in reverse.
I think car-jacking may take off when more people learn to drive, but as it is those rich enough to own a car drive so poorly and those poor enough to want to jack it can't drive.
It is if you have 10,000 dollars worth of spinners on each rim.

I've never seen spinners in China. people put weird rally stickers on sedans and LED light all over, that is often failing or doing harm to traffic safety.
I like spinners though, good concept.
