I do that almost on a weekly basis ... It's very easy:

Firstly, one must have Z visa ... authenticated BA, TEFL/TESOL Cert., Non-crim. Cert., 2-years of documented post grad working experience ...

Application for Z visa form must be filled entirely over the Internet ... and submitted to officials at Chinese Embassy in one's home country.

Once, you'll finish all above, come back and we'll transfer you to the student's visa.

I read, new requirement will be ''applicant must submit her/his social media history ...'', so 'no-more-lying' and 'presumptuous' postings ...

Last time OP posted he/she was crying a)how to/could get Z without or with only 1/2 of the completed degree?; b)how to change from student RP to Z RP in China; and similar, so ...

... and the web link, I c&p is the new proposal of requirement for tourists applying for Tourist visa entering USA ... How long do you think, Chinese will need to implement the same requirement and most likely implement it at the visa application for LT stay &work in China?

Actually it's possible. You can shift to student visa.Your school will process the document you need to apply your student visa to your home country  then come back to study. The time you intend to work again, it's the same process you need to bring your documents to your home country to acquire work visa .
