Q: China’s Yu Wenxia Crowned "2012 Miss World"
This is only the second time a Miss China (or any contestant of East Asian origin) has won the Miss World beauty pageant, the first being Zhang Zilin (张梓琳) in 2007.

I am Chinese. I did not turn thumbs down to Chinese women. Just Miss world pageant barely see Chinese.
They dont have money to attend pageant?
I do not think it is do not have money as the contestant do not have to pay; I think is mainly because most Chinese girls are a bit shy to enter a beauty contest. I do not think China lacks beauties as there are so many beautiful Chinese girls on the streets everyday and I am sure many would have a good chance to win a beauty contest. Yu Wenxia is taller than most Chinese girls at 1.78 m and is beautiful. Good luck to her!!!!!!!!!!

If you look at the list of all the winners, there isn't a country or section of the world that particularly dominates this competition. I say we are lacking beauties everywhere 
I swear my girl is more beautiful than her....she can knock her out anytime of the day

I think I dated her, The biggest obstacle for contestants is getting a visa. Almost every Chinese woman gets turned down. The Visa office doesn't believe they are attending a pagent, they just think she will over stay her visa.
It is not that China Lacks beauty..it is all about nexus between giant companies and organizer...as a marketing specialist I have analyzed these events...even these events are case studies in some business schools..
It works like that:
These Giants companies which deals in beauty products or fashion products and are big brands always watch their market and put them under three categories:
(1) Potential Market but still not open for their products and offering..
(2)Market is open but not growing as per the potential of market.
(3) Market is open and as well as growing as per potential and generating good business for these Giant companies.
So the first target is to make someone winner from category (1).
If non of the market comes under category (1) they shift their focus on category (2) and try to make the winner from country which falls under category (2)
and whenever any market from category (3) shifts to category (2) due to lack of demand..then that market becomes their priority..
They do it very wisely that you cannot find direct relationship..but on behind every winner there is a certain motive of either opening the market..or boost the market or to maintain the demand of market....
And current trend in china is that the domestic demand has fallen as per the expectation of big companies and i think it is the reason we got winner from China..to boost the market again..
So it is all about money and nexus...it does not matter that a particular country has Beautiful girls or not..
