Q: China-african Forum, french invited to talk about Africa, what?

can anyone claim to know you more than you know yourself? content of the forum-first and second and third speeches by Chinese people, then fourth and fifth by French and last speeches by African,is that normal or what? why do Chinese so much trust and rely on anything having to do with Europe and America? where is the world heading to papa God!!!!

(Sarcasm alert)

God forbid that they actually have a group of AFRICANS discussing about Africa....

(End of Sarcasm)

It truly boggles the mind! While hearing the Chinese and maybe even the French perspective could be interesting, I would be much more interested in what the Africans themselves are saying, especially people from the African country discussed (after all, Africa is a continent, not a country).

mArtiAn:

This is a misconception; Africa is actually a country of only 100 people.

Chinese new generation is the victim of Americanisation and in future they will feel regret for that….

GuilinRaf:

Um, what does this post have to do with America? They are asking about Africa, with Chinese and French speakers....

Sound stupid to me - but was the French person an expert of Sino-(instert-African-country-here) relations, or a long-term resident of (insert-African-country), or a French person of second-generation African descent, or something similar that would make their inclusion more sensible?

GuilinRaf:

Good point.

I fully understand the Chinese speaker, after all, we are talking of Sino-African themes. The French speaker if he/she is an expert or scholar in the field. Still would have made sense to have more than just one person from Africa (would this person be from the country in Africa that they are discussing?).

the conference was held in Nanjing University on September 28, most of the African that attended the meeting left before it was over and all of them described the conference as a "bullshit" The French guy only talked about every negativity of Africa which was not related to the content of the forum.

of course we all know France is one of the European  countries that always bring divisions and wars to African countries, example is republic democratic of Congo,Codivoire just to mention a few. what annoyed African most was that Chinese people gave priority to French more than them despite the fact that the conference was about China and Africa,  it doesn't make sense at all. no matter how expert he his in African Affairs he can never know more about African than the same Africans, is like someone telling you that he knows your room better than you yourself.

MissA:

Having a neutral academic viewpoint doesn't sound like a terrible thing to me, but ignoring all actual Africans at an Africa conference sounds remarkable dumb.

obama: you are racist how dare you mention this. it is not china's fault as a poster above said it is because of america. america is the one who selected the speakers. and this actually all happened in america. this had nothing to do with china, you are a racist for saying these things. devil

You expected this to be a legit conference? You're asking this about the Chinese, who will get a token foreigner in a conference just to look important or "worldly." They're doing what will impress and interest Chinese people, and I highly doubt that the most important point to them was to be fair and informational about Africa. Remember the concept of face, and this conference will make more sense to you.

xinyuren:

Unfortunately, right on the button.   Chinese often deprive themselves of truth because of this problem of face.  Sometimes, I believe looking "good" is more important to them than finding the truth.

America selects a French speaker to downgrade Africans in Public in a conference that has to do only with Chinese and Africans to try and look at the sectors Africans think China might help improve, then he comes and talks about slavery, can anyone help me understand this?

am now called a "RACIST" simply because I pointed this out here? is there any other continent in the world that does  accept criticism apart from Africa? crimochina does not know me not even a little but he has already confirmed that am a racist, what an Irony

crimochina:

i was joking. but in all seriousness this is china. they know absolutely nothing about the world outside of china. they simply organzied the conference in a way that it would look good (to someone who is blind). have you talked to the chinese who were in attendance to see if they could figure out the big blunder?

Well it's obvious, isn't it? It's sales. Selling opinions and beliefs. They don't want the truth sold as it doesn't help them in.......whatever their goals are. So they put forward someone sympathetic to their goals to speak instead. Would have made much more sense to use an African, there's always someone willing to sell out their own people, wherever you are.

Sadly, Africans really have it rough here.  A few years ago, a training school wanted to hire me one summer because a company was going to sent about 25 people to Kenya. Since English is one of the languages spoken there, they wanted an intensive every day course for four weeks.

Well, I had a friend FROM Kenya and I brought him along thinking (naive me) that he would be perfect!  He speaks fluent English, he knows the country, the customs. having lived in China for some time, he could  tell the Chinese what things could give them culture shock, etc. Well, they did not want him, they wanted me. I told them that I was too busy that summer (so that they would hopefully give Greg the job).  They instead gave it to another white guy, who knows nothing abut Kenya.

Such a wasted opportunity.

i just figured out the answer to this question. i was walking by a classroom where a chinese teacher was doing a slide show presentation on AFRICA (no country specifically listed )

i could pick out the big english lettering "Impoverished" and "Civil wars"

remember this is china . students at all levels are not educated they are indoctrinated. they are taught to look down on other countrie in one way or another.

so if they are going to have a forum involving africa, why would they bring anyone truely knowledgeable to state facts that contradicts the govt ignorant teachings?

Aah..I think I can co-relate this with U.S.A..

If there is any problem between two Nations  in any part of the world..U.S.A is first to give some advise to both..after that it becomes Trial room where U.S.A become Judge and the two countries become appealing parties..

The summary is that If U.S.A is involved..it means this problem is now serious..and going to be solved at international level or UN level..

The same thing..if France or some European countries are involved in China Africa Forum then it shows that this Forum is very serious and going in a right direction with an aim to achieve something..

Here France acts like just a Rider of Assurance given by Chinese Government to the African Government..

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
