i don't think there is nothing left for China to copy from the west, even do they copy the way they they treat Africans, but why don't they copy also manners, good social conduct and positive behaviors? whould I ever get a correct answer from this question?
Because although the Chinese wish to have a western lifestyle - they do not wish to be westerners.
There is an understanding in China. The population can do anything they like, as long as they don't criticise the government. Hence the lack of social fabric.
Hey I know...let's post serious sociology questions on a forum favored by trolls, angry Han males, disaffected English teachers, and alcoholics with liberal art degrees. Mix well, and let the madness rise to the surface!
Scandinavian:
F*** You, I don't like liberal art. You just made me so furious you made me spill my gin on the students homework.
Oh wait. I am not a teacher, why do I have homework here.
Traveler:
Even if you were a teacher, nobody actually marks the homework.
rasklnik:
We have sport day, also known as FT stay home and drink day.
GuilinRaf:
I second the motion! jes as soon as I finish my second scottle of botch.....
i hope eventually they copy the give to the poor and punish the productive and rich, so the economy crashes like everybody else, results dont matter, my intentions were good.
The only trouble with punishing the productive is that some of the productive will go out of business and people loose their jobs, also, we are seeing foreign companies deserting China for various reasons including the Chinese themselves ripping these companies off. Whilst I agree some practices need to be controlled too much punishment ends up with undesired consequences. What maybe a better way is to develop a desire and pride in doing a good job, an awareness of one's actions on the environment and those people around them and teaching respect for other people. I think Traveller is right, there is no interest here in these things, the government is happy to let anything go provided it does not hurt them. One of the things that I think will rebound on them is the property bubble here. I live in Nannning and only this afternoon have seen new property for sale at 25,000rmb per metre. When it does crash the government will really find out what a lack of manners in the population really means.
because from copying handbags you can make money,,,, from copying behaviour you cant gain anything, but by applying western manners maybe you will be accused of having lost your chinese identity or values
Scandinavian:
that is not true, the cars would get to their destination faster with more gas in the tanks if they copied some driving behavior from the Germans, time is money, and gas costs money.
When the true values about life are transferred to good money, fancy cars, big houses, good looking husbands/wives, people are pushed or rushed to make themselves successful by gaining more money, power and fame with whatever it takes, even at the cost of their consciousness and reason mind. There're no righteous role models could be found around them when they're surrounded by the same kind of people. Or they don't bother to learn from anyone since they're so eager to be the BEST and truly believe that they are indeed the best among others. Where are the humanity, respect, peace, and love? There're very few people who're still fighting for the true good values, and those minor group of people are often considered to be the weirdos....
