Q: China is getting sexier

I've been in a China a while. It's no secret that the country is going through a sexual revolution. When I first came here in the 1992, hand holding was even a taboo. Today when I read the news, theres sex everywhere. Weibo girls, bikini car show girls, a show where a time traveling playboy is put in a girl's body and falls in love with man.

What do you guys think this is all about?

What that's about is money! And desperate men. With too much money, and not enough sense.

coineineagh:

Exactly. I see pretty girls everywhere, marketing stuff. But relationships remain dull and uptight. The sex appeal is for show, status and face gaining. You see a pretty girl with the guy, and you know it's all money, no substance. They don't go home to have a porno-esque sex romp, they go home to their parents, who push and prod and manipulate. The wife complains she doesn't get enough care. The man complains that the woman gains weight. Once in a blue moon they have lousy sex, and even less after the baby is born. If they even stay together after the next generation is weaned. China has a shocking amount of runaway *moms*: By their reasoning, they need to find a new man fast, and are unsellable with children along as baggage. Ooh sexy, huh?

Don't know about sexier but I do know that homosexuality is becoming more acceptable, I know a lesbian girl who says all her friends know and accept her for her sexuality.

Let's just call it the "Guo meimei" syndrome for want of a better phrase. The Chinese have discovered that sex sells and, in a society of so few morals and ethics, the people are going to take advantage of the opportunity for sure.

The only change is the brazen prozzers have moved from hair salons to online dating apps. Don't ask how I know this.

I could never find out what's the real difference between a 'post' and this 'post'. Looks like some philosophy stuff....

Hmmm...not really my area.  If you're interested in that kinda stuff I'd refer you to Shining's post about souls.  Get comfortable though, as you'll need more than a cuppa to get through it all.

My level doesn't go much beyond thinking that if young Zhang keeps winning then CCTV will continue showing it until Sunday.  Oh, I think the ladies final is Saturday.

Too much thinking now, the brain needs a rest.  Strewth, hope the wife's bringing home some comforters....

I wouldn't call it a sexual revolution...perhaps you meant the phrase as 'change, or different.' In terms of the way that women are perceived and treated in this culture (i.e. as property, something there for men to get their face fix from by showing off), there really hasn't been.

In the past, nice chaste girls were in, because men got to show off how much he got to have the woman HE KNEW no one else had. He got to feel exclusivity, even if he screwed everything with 2 legs.

Shining Brow and Kaiwen hit the nail on the head. Sex sells, women wearing less is money (at least if they are bangable). Men will have the girl who looks the most like money.

They will still want to kick to crap out of you for dating that girl...you are a foreigner from waiguoland...and she is the property of the Entitled Chinese Male.

Those birds are all way too skinny for my liking.  The poor buggers look like they need a good feed.  Give me a full figured woman to look at any day!

Yep, definitely more sexy ads and promotions around, but it's all about business and money, sex is the ultimate marketing tool after all.
Ordinary couples remain in the same dull relationships where sex is seen as a duty by the woman and there is near to no enjoyment in the rare instances it happens.
Most of my wife's friends are tier-1 urbanites from that post-90s generation, supposedly more open and knowledgeable about it, but her female friends who are also in their 20s keep asking her the same dull sex-related questions that a 13-years-old back home would know the answers.
Our first time together she was also rather clueless about it, not a virgin at the time since she has a boyfriend before me, just clueless, I had to teach her almost everything from scratch but that was fun anyway.
Like always with Chinese, it's all about pretence, smoke and mirrors. Supposedly the post-80s generation was going to be cosmopolitan and take China into the 21st century, to that day most that I meet in urban centers remain numb peasants with rather narrow views of the outside world.

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
