Q: China International Personnel Training Centre (Shenzhen): Does anyone have experience with them?

Apparently they are hiring teachers to work in public schools in Shenzhen. They initially requested 140 teachers for these positions in August, but are still looking to fill in a few jobs. Does anyone know about them, or is anyone currently working for them?

I've searched the esl boards far and wide and the few posts that deal with CIPTC are vague or uninformative. I was hoping to find some feedback from actual teachers, but there doesn't seem to be any. Every time I've asked them (CIPTC) if they have contacts I could speak with, they dodge the question.

I had interview two weeks ago with Maggie, Chinese agent and Bill, American guy at CIPTC. I didn't get selected for Public School position in Shenzhen. I am non-native English teacher.

<sarcasm>

But they have "international" in their name, so it must be a good place, right?

They also have "Training" in the title too although no real training ever really happens!

Avoid this government-related company like the plague!!  The only people who are happy with this place are the folks making money off the inexperienced/naive teachers or those who simply don't know any better.  Contracts with these people mean absolutely nothing and will be changed/altered (including reducing salary) without any warning or justification.  The good news is that there are so many places/opportunities for enjoyable and rewarding work in Shenzhen you won't ever have to deal with these scumbags.

Stay away!  Run away!  The only people who are happy about this agency are those who simply don't know any better.  Pay is very low, mentoring is non-existant, most of the teachers are really bottom-of-the-barrel types.  Some in "management"  (eg. Hans, Camille, Charles) are completey incapable ot teaching or managing themselves, but will lay down the law on your supposed shortcomings.  Just look somewhere (ANYWHERE!) else.

Don't even bother with CIPTC.  They have some online video interviews and stories where the most articulate and telegenic people are talking, but these are the exceptions to the rule.  Incompetance is commonplace.  Salaries are rock bottom.  Most apartments are crap.  And the public schools they supply teachers to are overrun zoos.  Just stay away ... there are SO MANY other options in a big city like Shenzhen.
