There is no comparison between NorKor and China on the coastline of China and in the 1,2,3rd level cities. People in China are quite free to do as they please as long as no one is hurt or you cause damage.
In less developed places people enjoy the same freedom although with a lot less money and probably a lot more hard work.
I dunno,,, but the popular perception of the DPRK is that people are eating grass & tree bark and that one simple misstep can get your ass mown down by 7.62 round tout suite.
PRC has similarities for sure, but I think they have eased off this extreme kinda response to everything. If not, I would've been in the salt mines long ago!
