Q: Is China a poor man's way (dream) of acquiring a rich man's ability (desire)?

I think every forum in any country will have their own censors who delete or censor posts that carry views that are too strongly worded. It's not a question whether they can or cannot allow such posts but rather the idea of the entire website being shut down due to such posts that admin people worry about. All of us have something that we feel strongly about and in our own sense we feel that it is our right to air it. There's no problem with that, freedom of speech rules. However, when we consider the countries that we live in and the sensitivity of certain topics considered taboo I assume one would try to be subtle in our critical opinions and such. There are many ways to deliver a message in English with subtlety and yet not losing it's original meaning.
Strangely, my work computer can post no problem. BOTH my home computers go ape-shit every time I try.

Well, their filter can't catch it, it is impossible... the moderators would have to view it in order to censor it =P
So you would have your 10-15 minutes of infamy until the moderators do their job haha.

I know how you feel. I edited an article I wrote called "What the Chinese Don't eat." After the editing, I have not seen it in eight days. I wrote a message to the administration and they have not written me back either. It is strange.
I read your work and I know you spend a lot of time and effort on your articles, as do I. You would think this place would appreciate free quality work. But like many things in China, who knows....

my stuff took a month to get uploaded, and then only parts I and II. I wrote most of it in late Feb early March.
I never managed a website hosted in China. Even with the best intention in the world, every article might have to go through some reviewing process. The reviewing process should be clearly explained somewhere, and authors should have a feedback like "article rejected under reason X and Y". or "article pending", etc...

Yup, the feedback is just never gonna happen in China. "You do wrong, go try again without knowing what you did wrong."
