No, really. I have become MUCH more prone to illness ever since coming to PRC. Anyone else notice such a thing?
Go hit the beach somewhere in SE Asia for a week or so. The (4 S's) sun, sand, sea, and sex will do wonders on your health and psyche...
I am not any sicker in China, than I was before. Most problems I have is my 'chew', but that's genetically.
Overall, I'm very healthy person.
'Stay far away from MDs, medications and Hospitals' is my recipe. Loads of laughs, too!
I feel like I'm in better health in China actually. I eat mostly vegetables and lots of eggs and tofu, and I drink tea regularly. Maybe you're eating at dirty hole in the wall places, or not washing your hands as often as you should. Frequent hand washing is probably more vital to preventing sickness in China.

good advice on the hand washing, I use hand sanitizer every day too

Ha ya after seeing one too many peasants grabbing the subway handlebars after picking his nose, I've learned to touch as little as possible and wash hands frequently.
When it comes to any sort of illness that is relative to the respiratory system... ABSOLUTELY. The air here makes coughs last longer and phlegm spew out much more. There is also an increased chance of getting a little sick when the seasons change (again due to the air).
Other types of illness... not really. Oh, it is a little rougher on the digestive system, due to the spices, oils et al

I was trying to make some fun.Btw,what's your plan for the three days holidays?
When I got a cough in China it would last a stupid crazy amount of time.
Yes everyone will get sick but thats normal when moving to a new country, your wee wee might be more yellow for weeks or months, you'll cough up yellow junk and feel dizzy for no reason but after all is said and done your body will be much much stronger and you won't get sick as often, after first two years here I got sick or if I was in a different city my body did different things, in Guilin my pee was sooo damn yellow, after I got back to Shenzhen it was normal color again. But I haven't gotten really sick in years because my body can fight it easily now.
Overall I've actually been more healthy. I had diarrhea for about 2 weeks when I arrived but I guess my body adjusted after that. I still have some rough mornings after eating barbecue that's of questionable cleanliness but I'm really to blame for that as it's no secret the stuff is dirty. Since coming to China, I've given up a lot of bad habits like binge drinking (I still drink my fair share but nothing like before) and other substance use that was harming my health. I now walk a lot more and exercise at the gym a few days a week. I rarely get colds or stomach viruses and when I do, they are gone quickly. This has everything to do with my personal decisions and nothing to do with being in China. It would be a lot easier to live a healthy life in America. The only real health benefit I can see of living in China is the need to walk more in day to day life but that also means breathing the air so any benefit is sort of negated.
the grit in the polluted air - even with a mask - reaches my lungs.
and my eyes suffer more, i use eye drops several times daily.
I used to get sick all the time before but it is a lot better now. I eat vegetables, work out and so forth. But I did non of these things in England and rarely got sick there.. Oh well

I've traveled quite a lot but I've never been this sick anywhere else. Apart from some countries which give me diarrhea but in China I got all sorts of illnesses. I blame the pollution
Hmm, true, i feel the same, I was perfectly healthy, sporting almost everyday, but in China here I feel like valetudinarian... I sleep a lot and wake up tired, no matter how healthy live i try to lead...
